Keep Your Teen Safe Behind the Wheel

Monica Liller

Monica Liller

With graduation season upon us, it is important to remember to talk to your teens about the basics of safe driving. We want to keep this a festive time in the Valley.

It’s a great idea to take a few minutes this week to drill your young drivers on the basics of safe driving, the dangers of distractions in the vehicle, and the potentially fatal implications of drinking and driving. Monika Liller at State Farm Insurance has a free tool to help you deliver this information to your loved ones.

Take three minutes to listen to Monika’s interview airing on WSVG. It could save a life by hearing the interview here: Monika Liller Teen Safety Interview.

Take CPR Course and Save a Life

Sgt. Bill Rice

Sgt. Bill Rice is a lucky man. The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s officer was in Harrisonburg when he suffered cardiac arrest this past January. Fortunately, a 911 operator assisted a citizen on the scene with administering CPR before emergency responders arrived several minutes later. The action saved Bill’s life, preventing complications.

Sgt. Rice and Robin Tusing from Shenandoah Memorial Hospital / Valley Health stopped by the WSVG studios to discuss the importance of CPR and a free class coming up at the hospital for those interested in knowing the basics of responding in an emergency situation.

Make the most of adversity on the CO Show

We have all had those moments where we feel like the world is against us. “Why me?” we often ask. Often times we do all within our power to prevent our children and loved ones from experiencing trials and tribulations. According to author William Shifflett, that may not be the best policy. To learn more, listen to the CO Morning Show this week M-F 6a-10a. Morning show contributor Marcy McCann speaks to Shifflett, pastor at the Family Worship Center in Edinburg, about his new book Friendly Fire: Embracing the Power of Trial.
