Central Sweeps Hoops Doubleheader

Central High School BasketballBoth the Central High School boys and girls basketball teams scored big wins over Stonewall Jackson in Woodstock Saturday night on WSVG.

The Central girls defeated Stonewall 52-24. Shenandoah Ford Players of the Game were Katelyn Poston, leading the Falcons with 20 points and Emily Jordan, pacing the Generals with 8 points.

The Central boys rallied for a 48-44 win over Stonewall. Ricky Neff scored all 19 of his points in the second half, including the go-ahead basket. Neff earns Shenandoah Ford Player of the Game honors for Central along with Stonewall’s Colton Harlow, leading all scorers with 23.

Rams Girls Knock off Generals

Monday’s High School Game of the Week on WSVG featured varsity girls basketball. Craig Orndorff covered all the action of Strasburg knocking off Stonewall Jackson 37-31.

Shenandoah Ford Players of the Game:

Strasburg Rams: Kelsey Jenkins with 9 points, 5 rebounds, holding Stonewall’s leading scorer Emily Jordan to half her average on defense.

Stonewall Jackson Generals: Jayme Kokkonen, who led all scorers with 10 points.

Campbell Leads Luray Past Stonewall

In our High School Football Game of the Week, Luray downed Stonewall Jackson 31-8 in Quicksburg. Tyler Campbell led the Bulldogs running for 137 yards, scoring 3 touchdowns, with 2 interceptions on defense. Daniel Buhl led the Generals in the losing effort with 99 yards rushing and a TD.

Both players share Shenandoah Ford Player of the Game Honors.

The Bulldogs now own a 5-4 record. They play next hosting Riverheads for a non-league contest on November 8. The Gladiators enter the contest at 8-1.

With the loss, Stonewall moves to 0-9 on the season. The Generals travel to take on the Page County Panthers in a 2A Conference 35 outing on November 8.
